Blatant lying loses family its citizenship — but earns them a $63K bill from Gov't

I won't.
While I'm mildly curious about specific details, I know enough to know that somewhere down the line they're going to trip up; & regardless, I don't want to have anything to do with 'em.
I put myself out many years ago helping with the original application. I removed myself from that when the 1st lie appeared.
[sarcasm] Good luck to them. [/sarcasm].

Perhaps an anonymous tip is in order? How to report fraud

I (mostly - with some exceptions) agree.
As physical harm is not an element in the case quoted, I'm sitting back & following from afar.

A lie is still a lie and should not be rewarded. However what bothers me a bit, is that we as Canada were not able to track this family's exit from our country, but had to ask the UAE. Tracking somebody's exit from the country should not be too difficult.
So basically this would make it a legal decision, with evidence obtained by or in another country?

Having exit controls would actually make it easier for dual nationals to enter/exit the country properly, whilst also improving security.

I'd be interested to read the court docs for the case cited.

A stupid question. Is that your way of saying you would grass up the perpetrator, which of course would be the right thing to do in such a situation.

It is so improbable that one would witness a stranger engaged in a sexual assault on a child, unless one were in some sort of paedophile ring, as not to be worthy of consideration. If one were in a position to witness such behaviour one would likely be holding the camera and, I imagine, would not call the police.
That said, if I suspected there was trouble next door, I'd mind my own business. I don't call the police when I've been robbed or assaulted. No good ever comes of involving them.

It's my way of saying that you have some outdated prejudices. I suggest the leap to "female" is not one someone who has not considered this circumstance before, and often, would make.

Also back then, there was the option of a residency questionnaire which was handed out by the authorities. Then there would have been the citizenship test, plus the ceremony, where face to face presence within a short period of time of receipt of the official letter would have been required, etc...
When applying for a passport, a guarantor and two references would have been necessary. Honestly, I don't really know how they really could support their lies?
Plus in the end it was Canada's decision to award them citizenship not their decision, as odd as this sounds. Unfortunately I think they also naturalized mostly everyone in Quebec just before the 2nd Quebec referendum - no matter how long they spent time in the country, just to get a clear decision. Sometimes, I am wondering if there is a political will behind this? The issue is, in my mind, quite possibly not exactly a new one.....

Turns out that PR, in the case I cited, has *not* been restored. An unexpected casual conversation (always better to get info straight from the source, who was excessively voluble ) with the protagonists revealed that they have been allowed back into Canada, on one-time travel documents, while awaiting an appearance before, & decision from, the IRBC.
While waiting, their PR status is maintained. This leads me to wonder whether: if the case drags on over 730 days, will they be deemed to have maintained status ?
It appears that the basis for the case is unlawful removal from Canada of a minor, & the (now) custodial parent (a PR) leaving to find said minor. It will be interesting to see the results of this case on CANLII . I'm trying very hard to keep my distance.
