Ah, it's UtopianChris...I didn't recognise you (in the Maple Leaf). G'day. It does seem that there is more to the snake story than at first glance. Is the cause of childrens' death known? Do you think the python did anything at all or was it just placed in the room?

Obviously Im not privvy to exact details of the case but at worst I would have thought the boys could have been bitten by the snake as the species can be aggressive but to constrict 2 'animals' and not bite is virtually unheard of.

Yes, no bites which is just not possible. A constrictor holds its prey with its teeth to subdue it and then wraps around it to kill it. I really hope this isnt just accepted as death by snake because it just doesnt add up.

Nothing on CBC to suggest it yet. |
Re: Bizzare Tragedy in New Brunswick
Just because it's on Fox News, and the story is coming from the other side of the world while the 2 major Canadian news services don't have anything like that in their current updates for Atlantic Canada news yet, I'm sceptical. Fox news is famous for sensationalism and sometimes just making things up.
I just checked foxnews.com and it still says 'Boys Killed By Python' - slow news day in Oz. Never believe Fox, and take CNN with a grain of salt, they've both been caught fabricating news in the past. |
Re: Bizzare Tragedy in New Brunswick
My apologies, I've been quite distracted lately and didn't look at the link closely. Dodgey Fox FM radio station somewhere in Australia made this up, not dodgey Fox News. They don't even bother trying to give a source. The family should sue this station big time.

Reading the most recent article (which i think is what you are referring to), it seems the authorities took their eye off the ball when the place reverted to a pet shop.
They didn't check that the animals which had formed the collection were assessed and any which were not suitable for a private individual or for public sale were suitably relocated. Had they done so, this wouldn't have happened. Nobody has mentioned what a dump the place looked. The exterior was bad enough, one has to wonder what the interior was like and what conditions these poor animals were kept in. The interior was described as "cluttery". Think that was a euphemism. |

Too little too late for two little boys and their parents. |
Re: Bizzare Tragedy in New Brunswick
So you are saying because they frighten the life out of you then it is crazy to allow others that arent frightened by them and are knowledgable and responsible to keep them? Those of us who understand how these animals work know that the chances of that snake having done what is suggested are practically zero.

Re: Bizzare Tragedy in New Brunswick
My friend has 7-8 constrictors. The largest is about 12 feet long. Frightening what they could do to a child!
Buuuut, it's looked well questionable since the story broke. No bites, no screams etc etc.. |
