If he ordered his death, then he should say so, and explain the legal justification if its in question. He should in short be accountable

If he didnt order his death, then there should be accountability for what happened.

I dont care about the nitty gritty classified details of the operation, but the actual orders given and the justification for them should be clear at least.

In short, there should be accountability, thats the difference between the actions of a democracy, and the likes of OBL.

If Osama Bin Laden was held accountable for the actions of the 9/11 terrorists as their leader, Gaddaffi should have been made accountable for the Lockerbie bombing, and the US President should be accountable for the legality of any US actions.

Yes, I'm sure he was the only person to have been in the compound, and no one would have any vested interest in smearing his image among his followers or even in a wider way:sneaky:.

The information given out by the CIA etc following his death is obviously being carefully controlled. History is after all, written by the victors;).

Even if this is true it looks like something they made up and no-one will believe it. Really what's the point of this announcement?

They assassinated him already, seems to me that the classy thing to do would be to stop banging on about it.

My money is on a rushed out tv special. Then in 10 years a classier version will be made telling about the horrors the men had to enure whilst on their mission. It will be like apocolypse now, but with osama in the place of colonel kurtz.

Does seem to be a celebration of senseless acts of violence and power on all sides of the moral divide. Rather distasteful the whole business.

I'll bet you five internet dollars that a trashy TV special will be first.

The Killing Bin Laden documentary on Sunday at 10pm, and repeated 3hrs later.

Unless the US Military or Government has given access to the documentary team, I believe it'll be a reconstruction-type investigation, not an actual documentary involving the SF participants.

There was an unwritten code that such people should never whore themselves to such things. De La Billiere broke that code, which then led to the likes of McNab etc. from cashing in. They were all banned from setting foot in the barracks, and, for the most part, were sent to Coventry by the others.

As with most things, the US is completely different.
