Are you saying they are Muslims (I am not aware of any other "fundamentalist" associations). Could you please give me an example of a policy pursued by the PCs over, let's say, the last 3 years that the Liberals have actually opposed in a genuine way?

In the US the republicans are sometimes seen as the political wing of the christian fundamentalists. Its not quite that bad here, but its heading that way a little.

So, again, if the US Republicans are christian, albeit "fundamentalist" ones, what are the Democrats?

I cant be arsed to argue with you. You are right, about everything. I was totally mistaken that the US republican party is in any way beholden to the more extreme views of the evangelical christian movement in the States, on subjects such as gay marriage, abortion rights etc etc, and besides, everything posted on an online discussion forum should always be taken deadly serious and at face value and disected in the most minute detail...

Can we get back to discussing Vancouver again now?

They don't have to be anything. Both parties are bought and paid for by banks anyway.

I don't believe I put forward a position at all. I was just asking questions.

By virtue of a logically disconnected statement. "If a is b, what is c?" - is this the sort of thing you ask in court?;)

Tans-national corporate interests, but essentially the same. Issues of morality are forwarded to keep the attention of the public. There's a similar relationship between television programmes and advertising.

Would Ambre-Solair be an example of a 'Tans-national' corporation then?

While superficially the ideology of the British Conservatives and the American Republicans has differences they both answer to the same corporate overlords and also one wonders how many of them are wearing nurses uniforms under their suits.

That sounds way too clever to me.;)

I got the race and sexuality issue, I couldn't see how religion was the same (if the arguments of posters on here are correct), so I asked about politics which, it seems to me, is based on choice.

We then went onto the religious affliations of political parties but then I got the impression I was being called an argumentative bugger so I stopped. Would you like to continue?:p;)

Well, I do love a good argument on the internet. But Oink has already summed it up - they just distract us with religion and stuff so they can take our money and spend it on nurses uniforms.
