The Beast From the East!

Maybe some benefit style sanction?
It is quite hard to avoid a giggle about it though.
At least we've experienced it there and here, although maybe in the last few years there's been more snow and more cold more regularly in the UK.
In my early years here I used to get defensive about it, recognising it happens so little that it's not worth the massive investment necessary for all that heavy equipment that would sit idle most winters.
But it gets harder to do that when -15 (-20 with the wind chill) seems so mild now that I can put my "autumn" jacket on to go out in rather than the winter one. Or wear shoes instead of boots.
Sometimes I go out to clear the front steps of snow in a T-Shirt and only flip-flops on my feet. It's barely worth dressing up for and when the kids have waited for the school bus at -30 it gets a bit hard to take some of these media reports too seriously.

...the Canada mob on BE are taking the piss about the UK's reaction to the weather

The hysteria about the weather is just embarrassing. It’s winter. It gets cold. It might even snow. I find it ridiculous that most of my trains were cancelled today as it was -1C. Really? Sigh.
We won’t admit that it is cold at all since, if we manage to move to Canada this year, next winter will be much colder for us! 😂

If the U.K. has the beast from the east we're about to get the Pest from the West... up to 30cm possibly over night according to Environment Canada.

We have 5 cms forecast for today with a windchill of -9. Is it time for me to panic
It is funny how you finally start to acclimatize, I popped out last night in short summery jacket, and my son met me from work yesterday in a short sleeved tee shirt! Zero has become quite a basky sort of let's take the dog on an extra extended walk temperature.
The photos are great though, there's something about a Beefeater standing to attention in the snow and the seaside frozen that stirs the soul...and I have no idea why!
Hysteria from Siberia is wonderful!

Well the beast from the east is currently clashing with Storm Emma down here in Devon, and yes we have snow, quite a lot of it in fact, everywhere is covered even the car park here which had been gritted, and it's still coming down, mind you we are in the South West 'red area' so it's not unexpected, meanwhile were are safe and warm in our apartment.

Got sent home from work at 1:00 p.m. because of the ''Blizzard'' LOL. Looks like no work tomorrow. Long weekend!

You call this March weather ?!! Seriously cold with the wind today.

-5, strong winds, damp air, felt like -20 to me.
