We used to buy a Niagara red from a concession at the Loblaws in Oakville. It was discontinued and replaced with a more expensive VQA version that was consistently foul.
More symptomatic of some serious intent to make it a commercially viable wine area rather than a bunch of small semi-retired hobbyists.

Cant say Ive ever actually tried their product though...I just see a lot of signs for wineries on the way to the beach now.

Is it sold anyway other than locally?

Names to look for?

Edit: Found it... http://www.pec.on.ca/pec_yellowpages...p3?category=44

thanks for the tip!

We had a really good bottle of red last Friday from PEC but can't remember the name of it - still looking forward to exploring some more of Ontario!

kept bottle at home - so will check it out later

No idea what but it makes my face go bright red, though in a different way to had to much to drink bright red - before anyone comments...

Back on topic. A bear was seen in Peterborough last week. Just a little guy.

Back on topic we have had a Fisher in the back yard a few times.

Its usually in the spring, and usually followed a few days later by the simultaneously cute and sad sight of a bunch of now motherless Raccoon cubs. Fishers apparently are pretty vicious.

not my picture...they never hang around long enough..

I've done some googling on this and the best I can find is a cheeky Pinot Blood. Would that help?

You can my friend, but you would be wrong.

It's something in wine, so you wouldn't mix gin and wine would you?? That would also be wrong.

It's probably sulphite. Some cheap red wines are loaded with it and many people react badly. So I'm told.

I've often thought it's sulfites. I react more to blended wines too, cheaper stuff. Though one bottle of vintage ££££ champagne was evil and had to be cancelled out by a more expensive bottle.

Glad to hear about the champers.

I'm not a fan of the sloe; they all taste the same to me.

But were I too succumb to the OH's G&T cravings, I'll bear your recommendation in mind.
