Bay of Fundy not a world wonder
It was looking good for a while there as Canada's best chance of getting on the list, but the fat lady has sang and Canada won't be getting a place in the books.

The tides turned against the Bay of Fundy in its bid to be elected one of the New Seven Wonders of Nature.
The bay is officially out of the running as Canada’s only finalist in an online popularity contest to win a spot on the top seven list of the planet’s natural wonders.
While the ultimate winners won’t be identified until Friday afternoon, the Swiss-based committee announced the short list of 14 locations with the most votes in the morning.

What a bizarre twist on the story, will it be reported in the West Hendon Gazette as "Welsh Harp Not Wonder of the World" and in the Bexhill Advertiser as "De La Warr Pavilion Snubbed"?

First name on the list (not first place)
Bloody commercialism. Named after a flippin' book seller!
Amazon rainforest, South America.

In the early going. No one outside West Hendon really thinks the Welsh Harp is a wonder but you know the papers have to find some sort of local angle. I'm a little surprised at The Star in this instance, you'd think they'd have found a contender within the bounds of the subway; the Don Valley perhaps.
