Moncton covers all his needs/wants and it is cheap. Therefore in Bristols case it is great. Can't see a problem with this.

this is the cheapest 3-bed detached I can find in Oakville - a hundred bucks change from 400 grand.

I don't have a problem with Bristol liking Moncton either. But his responses so far always contain an element of "I can do this, so why can't you?". The answer (which is blindingly obvious) is that almost nobody wants to.

Well there is that. Although walking to 15 different supermarkets to make best use of the fliers would be the biggest downer for me.

Of course I'm in a minority. I think you are too. I notice you ignored the point that houses here are increasing in value because the area is on the up.
If you got to hear of some shares that were going to increase in value would you not bother buying them on the basis that they were always valued low so they wouldn't be worth it?
What I'm saying in this thread is something totally different but as usual you misrepresent me or just ignore those points that don't suit you.

No, that is precisely what you are doing. Poster wants to live in Ontario near skiing. Another poster points out that housing isn't cheap. You come in and say that it is cheap - if you live in Moncton where hardly anyone wants to live and then tell everyone (again) about how you've bought two houses and have change. It's dishonest and slightly patronizing.

I thought making up quotes was against forum rules

That was, of course, Alan's misquote of me. But it covers more than just my needs.
The only time I've said that was in reference to my low pension and my low cost terraced house in Bristol. Why you continue to ignore that very many people come to Canada with far more than that I don't know.

Richmond Hill is clearly superior to Oakville.

Vancouver is expensive as demand for housing there is high, however its very doubtful that pricing reflects the sustainable economic reality there but rather foreign money coming in. No doubt if other more desirable countries relaxed their rules for purchasing residency/citizenship then the demand for Vancouver would drop off with a corresponding effect on house prices.
I'm sure that Moncton is fine if thats what somebody wants but there are cheap backwaters to live in the UK also.
