A very Freudian typo there, Tom.
You wrote "new the character" instead of what you meant. That's the point here, characters like bazzz are not new (any more); what's more his style (admittedly abrasive at times) is thoroughly consistent. If really "new" characters get upset, then it's largely because of their "newness" leading to wrong assumptions about intent on the basis of "one or two paragraphs"; rather than on the "collected works" of regular posters.
Just quibbling of course, but that's why the forum remains fun for some of us older lags.

I am quite happy with a good quibble now and again
. I was not referring to Bazzz particularly only the phenomena of humour on boards like this, given the turnover of members and topics its unlikely many will be here long enough or often enough to figure out the regulars. Its more likely that they will look at posts in isolation and avoid those topics or posters that they feel uncomfortable with.
I am and have been a member on many fora with hugely varying subjects but the common theme is of people not getting other peoples attempts at humour. It is the nature of the beast.

Ok Google is my friend. unfortunately, I'm one of those people that just doesn't thinks Monty Python is remotely funny. It may be a generational thing. Then again maybe its just me :-)

Making other people look stupid almost always makes the rest of us feel bigger, and is often tearfully funny but nearly never very kind. But it would be boring if everyone was nice.
I'll continue to make my apologies via PM. Their number and the often drunken state they're made in are not for public consumption.

I really don't get why everyone seems to have a go at bazzz.
There are so many posts where people complain that they miss the British sense of humour. Intelligent and witty put downs are an essential component of British humour. It is what makes shows from Blackadder to Have I Got News For You so very funny.
bazzz is very good at it. Why do we all get upset so quickly?
