Well I think you need to aplogize to him right now for not spelling his name with the requisite numbers of "z"s.

I apologise to Mrs McCabe - primary school teacher for the leaving class of 1982, for nicking all that stationery from the cupboard.

In my defence I did put it to good use at highschool but I've been haunted by my wanton act of pre-teenage larceny ever since.

So I'm sorry. :o

While I'm here, I'd like to apologize to rae for hounding him all through the forums pointing out that, as a ManUre supporter, he's a smug old northern git.

Oh, hang on...

I really don't get why everyone seems to have a go at bazzz.

There are so many posts where people complain that they miss the British sense of humour. Intelligent and witty put downs are an essential component of British humour. It is what makes shows from Blackadder to Have I Got News For You so very funny.

bazzz is very good at it. Why do we all get upset so quickly?

Humour doesn't translate well to internet fora like this. Facial expressions, setting and context are key parts of all humour and without them it often just appears to be abuse. Sad but true.

One apology a day is enough - don't push it. :p

Yea? Tell that to P.G. Wodehouse.

Fair point but I would argue that Wodehouse needed more than a paragraph to establish characters and their context. I wouldn't think there are many single paragraphs that would be funny if read in isolation, unless you already new the characters involved.

A very Freudian typo there, Tom.

You wrote "new the character" instead of what you meant. That's the point here, characters like bazzz are not new (any more); what's more his style (admittedly abrasive at times) is thoroughly consistent. If really "new" characters get upset, then it's largely because of their "newness" leading to wrong assumptions about intent on the basis of "one or two paragraphs"; rather than on the "collected works" of regular posters.

Just quibbling of course, but that's why the forum remains fun for some of us older lags.

Oh. And I apologize of course. :D

I've not noticed anyone having a go apart from that boxer guy who threatened to punch my teeth out. And to be fair, I was quite rude to him.
