i noticed that too. Some are turning red already - a few flashes of red in the branches, but a lot are just going brown and parched from the lack of rain

I even put my heating on today for a hour,, summers going..........

I don't mind the end of summer so much - I just hope we have a proper autumn this year - last year's got snowed out! ;)

I can well believe it. We did much of our Christmas shopping in CT a couple of years back. In September. Souvette's family all got garden furniture, obtained at much reduced prices.

I would not be surprised to see Fall come very early this year. Normally, the Fall colours are meant to be in the first two weeks of October. I can see the trees being bare by then. That may well be because Summer started very early and we've had a lot of rain. A lot of vegetation has probably done most of the growing it wants to do this year. My apple tree has already finished with apples, the clematis has very few blooms left and the vine has more than a few red leaves. If we get much more rain, coupled with a frost or two (quite possible as nighttime temps are getting pretty low), that could be game over. This is the first time I can remember sitting outside at night in mid-August with a coat on.

We aim to go East one year and see the autumn colours - not too many maples in Alberta! :)

Thanks for cheering me up Steve, I was beginning to think I'd have to pack my winter woolies for Reccee in Sept. I'm hoping to see some of this Albertan sun you've all been bragging about this summer.

You should bring some warm clothes. September is usually nice during the day but it cools off sharply when the sun goes down.

The house has certainly developed a feminine quality; it puts me in touch with my inner lipstick lezzer.

On topic, this weekend was the first time this year that I could see the horse's breath when they snorted. It won't be long before I get to try the monster snowblower.

Yes. It's dispiriting that we could very well have frost in August. Why do you think older Canadians go the US for the winter?

Re: Anyone noticed...

I suppose its all my fault.

I decided to grow some peppers here, in spite of that the 3 times I tried to grow then in England there was a frost just before they were ready to pick, and the fruits were all blackened and useless. There's one pepper on the plants right now, almost ready to crop. Sorry :(
