Anyone into birds?

They are certainly not mundane. Please don't anyone be deterred from posting a long range shot- I think that the consensus is, everyone likes a good nosey at photographs - post away!

And JC3 , great to see overseas birds featuring.

Penguin Rosemary?
There is an overwintering monarch butterfly tree not too far from us . I'm determined to go see it this year.

Okay, one is a squirrel, but we don't see many red ones down my way and I rather like them.

And if we're going on a tangent, here's a few butterflies.
I have a lot of pics of butterflies.
An awful lot of cars and scenic pics.
There's a park across town that heron's, blue ones I think, tend to hang out at and I've seen loads there, but never when I've had my camera, but I'll try one of these free weekends. Probably going somewhere on Wednesday that potentially has a lot of birds in and around, so see if I get lucky with an owl or a hawk of some variety. Normally, once I've bagged the big 400mm lens away though

We have some lovely red tailed hawks here in lower New York State. While in Mississippi we have Cardinals (which are quite nasty and have watched one peck another bird to death who happened to come to the feeder), humming birds, blue jays, hawks and finches.

Normally I don't put our family members names on the forum but I will make an exception .... This is Derek- the cheekylittle blue fella, not his great big green BFF.

Who's a pretty boy then?

He said the he didn't want close ups as they make his wrinkles look more conspicuous
I then had a chat with him and he said that he didn't mind as he felt he looked quite debonaire in close up

I will go and ask him.......................................
................................ Right he said it isn't a owl, it a family trait- he says well spotted though
Thinking about it,the facial owl looks a bit more like Mr Cadbury's parrot.

The robins here are black & white. Everything here seems to be black and white.
