You cannot tell if someone is a virgin by performing an examination.

And would it be the last thing you would expect in USA, UK, France, Germany, Australia etc, etc, etc? I would think all medical associations in these countries do not condone such behaviour by physicians, but rest assured it is happening. Now that Islam has spread around the world, this is one of the consequences. There are some other religions, including some Christian sects in which virginity is expected of brides to be. In some countries there are doctors performing surgery to restore virginity particularly to Muslim women.

The validity of the test pales into comparison with the underlying issue, namely that some females are subjugated or even mutilated as a result of their backward culture. That's a better thing to be pissed off about.

Plenty of educated medical professionals are morons too. Unfortunately. But I know what you mean and it is surprising to learn that this kind of thing is going on in Canada and probably everywhere. As noted in the article, the whole endeavour is repugnant.

I'll never forget a letter I received, many years ago, when I was working for (then) DSS.

It was complaining about not qualifying for benefit or some such matter and it included the by no means unheard of crap along the lines of "if I was black (or just off the banana boat) I'd get it."

That it was written by a doctor was such a shock.
