Went shopping over the border yesterday to Minot ND. Anyway as we were crossing a car park I saw a British number plate. On looking closer it was on a rhd SUV, there were no other number plates on it except UK ones. First time I had even heard or seen this. Any ideas? Just curious.

I saw a beemer with a British number plate. I asked the woman driving it how that was possible - she said she'd ordered it for the vehicle (front and rear plates) but that the registration was actually Canadian just done in the British style if that makes sense?

Some provinces/territories require only one registration plate so a few cars have previous number plates on them but will have one legal registered number plate.

My vehicles were purchased in the US and are appropriately registered in the state where I live, but the pattern of letters and numbers are from the vehicles I owned in the UK. Local "standard issue" plates are ABC 1234, whereas mine are ABC 123D or A123 BCD.

there's a few cars i've spotted around Calgary with UK front registration plates on them
obviously the owners have decided just to bring a copy of their UK plate with them and stick it on the front since AB doesn't require a front plate!
i've got a bunch of old UK plates over here with me, but their stuck to my toolbox

I changed my registration on my 1975 2CV when I arrived, but I was very sad to do so, in France I lived in Department 72 (Sarthe) and my Official French number plate was....FU 72...it was like that when I bought her....gosh I miss that plate!

You have a 2CV in NB? I'm very jealous. It must stand out there in a sea of Cavaliers and pick up trucks.

I have always loved 'em and have always had one around....odd thing is we only decided to bring her just before we left on the spur of the moment...there wasn't a great deal of difference in a 30ft container and a 40 ft. I only insure her from April till October though, she's in the garage after that and I'm in a Hyundai Accent, boring but practical. My husband likes, and is building a Hotrod, I don't like them they don't have the same appeal for me.
