Has anyone been following this news?
Just read about it on CBC:

And looked it up further:

Bit sad this whole saga, and always sad to see someone shot

Re: Anonymous launches OpDown - RCMP Canada
Looks like most of the Anonymous group are not happy with the immediate response of the Anonymous guy who posted the initial response:
https://mobile.twitter.com/YourAnonCentral
other Anonymous tweets are far more circumspect
OpDEmaritimes @OpDEmaritimes
Its hard to not get fired up under these circumstances, but revenge tactics are dangerous and foolish. #OpAnonDown #Anonymous
OpDEmaritimes @OpDEmaritimes
if you are seeking revenge and violence YOU are the problem.
Wanna help...show support and solidarity.
#Anonymous
OpDEmaritimes @OpDEmaritimes
As a Canadian and a person with a reasonable thought process, i cannot provide any support for anything to do with #OpAnonDown
OpCanary Canada @OpCanaryCD
What we, as a Canadian based #Anonymous account, can offer is assistance with research and amplification. Not cries for revenge or violence.
OpCanary Canada @OpCanaryCD
If anyone knows what's best and appropriate, it would be those who put the blood and sweat into #SiteC's resistance #FirstNation + locals
OpCanary Canada @OpCanaryCD
We, #OpCanary Canada, do not vow revenge for #Anonymous.
Hope for peace and patience with this situation
Hope the RCMP will be transparent
@OpDeathEatersCD
IMO the best thing #Anonymous can do is offer peaceful support and show love. Do not speak for #Treaty8, they speak for themselves. Amplify.

Ok so it wasn't a Canadian response, it's a US guy and Canadian Anonymous and other Anon groups are not in agreement with his response.
The Canadian ones above seem pretty reasonable. Undoubtedly the shooting is sad anyway

Identity of the man is revealed - a First Nations young man called Jay Mack
Apparently they were just protesting BC Hydro's project ... So sad. I read that police apparently were called because of someone (x) and when they arrived x had left, next thing you know they shot Jay.
Looking at his old Twitter feed, Christy Clark, police everyone knew they were protesting

Operation Anon Down @OpAnonDown
An Anon lost his life while in opposition to @bchydo and #SiteC. It would honor @jaymack9's memory if we keep those actions in mind.
Why would they shoot an environmental protestor?

Re: Anonymous launches OpDown - RCMP Canada
I see why some of them are upset, I feel unwell reading it and I don't know the victim.
From Vanc Sun:
The BC Hydro meeting was the last of five public consultations on the Site C dam held this month. The hearings have attracted protesters — primarily representing First Nations and environmental groups. Those groups have also filed lawsuits to try to stop construction.
A spokesman for Amnesty International, one of the groups opposed to Site C, said he had never heard of an Anonymous group protesting or attending meetings about the project.
The province granted approval earlier this month for the first phase of construction to start on the $9-billion dam on the Peace River.

OpDeathEatersCanada @OpDeathEatersCD
I thought #Anonymous was fighting for the people, and here we are intimidating the people "we are here to protect". No better than the RCMP.
OpCanary Canada @OpCanaryCD
We will not cease our research because some USian Anons are being louder than the rest. Love and Respect #SiteC #DawsonCreek #OpCanary
OpCanary Canada @OpCanaryCD
This has exploded into a big mess; #SiteC, best intentions of researching and pushing out info to help educate the public as per #OpCanary
Looks like a bunch of well meaning people, when a friend is killed, I understand why some vowed to seek transparency and justice
So sad! I'll stop..but at least it made me more aware of Site C and the Christy Clark dam project...
