Here's a real life example of husband dumping wife for being fat. A friend of mine had been happily married for years, had had children, and had literally been at death's door after their delivery, spending several days in ITU. She put on weight and had to take steroids due to illness resulting from childbirth, resulting in more weight gain. Shes very successful, intelligent, amusing, good looking. But after 10 years or so her husband is promoted big time and he decides that she doesnt look good enough to take to all the dinners etc so he dumps her for a younger, slimmer, woman.

So not only does he leave his wife, he leaves his children. He rarely sees them and has had another child with new woman. He did all this because he wanted to look good in front of his colleagues, thinking they would think badly of him for having a fat wife. He told his wife all this too.

What kind of a person is so so shallow and conceited that they dump their children as well and then blame it on the childrens mother?

If Adrian wants the think that there is nothing I or anyone else can do, but what I do care about is the idea that anyone, and women in particular might take Adrians views that most men think the same way seriously. There is enough dumb stereotyping about what men and women think and care about without adding to it.

I was offended that he would paint all men in the same shallow way with a statement along the lines that most men, or the majority of men, or all men would get a divorce under the bait and switch cluase or whatever it was he actually said. I dont think men are as bad as all that, and the results of this straw poll would appear to back up my view that the majority of men do not think this way.

Thanks for the kneeJERK reaction to it clairemarie. Perhaps next time you wont just jump to conclusions about a posters intentions or how someone voted in an anonymous poll

Hmmm, yes, my world view has been fundamentally altered upon reading Adrian's posts.

I've not contributed to either thread, not wanting to dignify what is a pointless and idiot debate and because I don't believe in feeding trolls. I do have to say that your 'Does you mama suck your rooster until you scream?' (I may be paraphrasing here) did result in a coffee/screen interface.

Were you there? This is only her half of the story. Do you what his half is? I didn't think so.

What is the divorce rate? In most societies it seems to hover at about 50%. Almost 80% here they would stick by their wife. Obviously there is a disparity between the poll and reality. If these are the type of men that would "stick by their wives" even if she repulses them, they would surely put up with anything and the divorce numbers would be consistent, i.e, 80% remaining together. So, why the 50% divorce rate? Maybe the wives are kicking out their husbands??
