Smile Re: Annoying Phrases

All my kids say (been here just over a year) is "sure' when asked if they would like something .......although teenage daughter occasionally grunts!
The other Canadian phrase i dislike is "good job' ,seems to be used in sporting events even if the individual or team are performing badly.
Maybe I am being the over competitive type?

Have we moved from annoying phrases to annoying songs?

"Get a life"

My favourite line to date was said to me by my eldest on a road trip....a little heated discussion between the teen and dad. She told me to "build a bridge". I questioned what she meant and she stated....."Get over it"
(Very difficult to strangle someone sitting behind you !)

Now I come to think of it, one phrase that bugs me is one that I have only really seen on this forum!
It is.......OH. As in 'other half'. Someones husband or wife or partner or whatever. It bugs me! Surely you are whole without them, were you half a person before you met them?
Argh.

You are right of course, I never used that term until I joined BE it's just laziness on my part I can't be bothered typing husband when ever I mention him and I don't want to use his real name

OH is very convenient, "partner" suggests same-sex, wife is not strictly accurate, reason-for-living excessive (except in Newfoundland).

Gaaaah. I concede that partner is ambiguous though. My Dad has a partner of 21 years, female, not married. There was a time that 'girlfriend' seemed ok. Now she is in her early 60's it seems a bit, not ok. So I am left with partner.

Still, the day I say 'OH' is the day I have myself committed.

Stop it now.....
21 years of being together. Both whole people, no halves involved.
