Annoying Phrases

Researchers at Oxford University have compiled a list of the top 10 most annoying phrases. Agree? Disagree? Which, if any, do you use?!

The top ten most irritating phrases:

1 - At the end of the day
2 - Fairly unique
3 - I personally *
4 - At this moment in time
5 - With all due respect
6 - Absolutely
7 - It's a nightmare
8 - Shouldn't of
9 - 24/7
10 - It's not rocket science

* wonderfully described by John Humphries as "the linguistic equivalent of having chips with rice"

Guilty as charged....

Not the phrase.... just at this time I personally dont think I am fairly uniquie in that at the end of the day I am guilty of using most of those phrases on the list.

I'm surprised that
"yeah yeah - whatever" isn't in that top 10.

Hubby uses "at the end of the day" a lot - they take the p*** out of him at work now - think he's trying to delete it from his vocab, but it's not that easy when something seems so ingrained, is it?

AT the end of the day and with all due respect I personally absolutely find 'perfect' annoying. Its a nightmare that its not on the list, but then it is very much a british list and therefore fairly unique.

Well, Brian, At the end of the day, I personally find it fairly unique at this moment in time. With all due respect it's been absolutely a nightmare. Shouldn't of thought training 24/7 was any use. I just 'it it with me boot. And it's in the back of the net, Brian, innit? It's not rocket science.

Not sure what's wrong with absolutely.

What happened to "you know...." or "like...." or "doing my head in"
:)

As a fully qualified rocket scientist the final one in the list means something is difficult, as rocket science is easy. I prefer "It's not organic chemistry" myself.
