Air Canada customs breach at Vancouver airport after arrival from Beijing - British Columbia - CBC News
Seem's an Air Canada agent opened the wrong gate on an international arrival and passengers were released into the domestic terminal instead of going into the international arrivals into Canada Customs.

That happened to me in Toronto. I was out of the terminal before I wondered how I was going to get my bag. The ground staff wouldn't let me in the out door to get to the carousel so I went home and AC delivered the bag a couple of days later. I imagine it happens quite often, the airport's always a bit of a muddle.

Confusing things to operate, airports. You'd think someone would see a need for a dedicated, professional group to operate the airport rather than thinking of it as a funny sort of oversized bus stop that will look after itself.
