2007 " Best Cities to live in " survey,
Each year, a survey is conducted by Mercer Human Resources Consultants, to score the best cities, worldwide, to live in. This information is used by firms to decide if a employee being sent to a new city to work, and live, will be given a "hardship extra pay bonus ", or not.
This year, as in most of the past 30 years, Canadian cities ranked near the top of the survey, with Vancouver ranked as the best city in Canada, in which to live. The survey ranks 315 cities worldwide with Baghdad being ranked dead last. What a surprise there...........
The top ranked UK city was London, at 39th place. No other UK cities were in the top 50 cities in the survey.

The survey uses a range of 39 different "local factors " into the rankings. The base line city is New York, which is assigned a score of 100, and all the other cities are either above or below that point in their scores.

Re: 2007 " Best Cities to live in " survey,
It's not the " the best cities, worldwide, to live in" - by their own admission, it's the dullest ones
[*]" A city with a high Quality of Living index is a safe and stable one, but it may be lacking the dynamic je ne sais quoi that makes people want to live in world-renowned cities such as Paris, Tokyo, London or New York. Sometimes you need a little spice to make a city exciting. But that "spice" may also give a city a lower ranking. "

Re: 2007 " Best Cities to live in " survey,
thanks for taking the time to post . It was an interesting read. Why Toronto beat Montreal is beyond me. Maybe I am a little biased towards Montreal as I am moving there in 2 months...
