I have been living in Canada for nearly a year now and how come it has taken until TODAY for me to learn that *69 is the Canadian equivilant of 1471 in the UK! LOVE IT! I can now become a "who called" junkie again!

I used it once in Manitoba, it was sth like a dollar a pop (free to hear the number, but a dollar extra to connect a call). I'm so mean I never bothered again, but I was glad that REM song finally made a bit of sense

- The recording advising me there are no problems on a particular credit card that I don't have.
- The Capital One invitation to apply for a credit card.
- The fund raiser.
- The call from the phone company asking if we want a new service.

The good thing is though when I'm home I know when not to waste my time answering the phone. The reason we got caller display was to avoid calls from my FIL, I never answer calls with a 705 area code.

Surprised ? C'mon, it's Canada, everything is overcharged, superannuated, loaded up or otherwise crammed with extra charges.
The masses lie on their backs while they are prodded with sticks (usually, but not always, wielded by Merkuns), yet they smile politely and say thank you profusely.
