A filbert is a cultivated nut very similar to hazelnut but a bit bigger. Personally I preferred to go foraging in the hedgerows for fresh hazel. Much nicer than the dry shrivelled up nuts you can buy.

Coffee pads for my senseo machine (they are available at IKEA here, but i prefer other brands).

I wonder if you guys in Penang have a branch of Ben's Independent Groceries aka B.I.G?

They have just about everything, food wise. Including OXO cubes.

Hi Epicurious,

I don't think there's any in Penang, although Cold Storage here is pretty good for imported foodstuff
I only know of two B.I.G.'s in KL, one at Publika, the other at Batai Village. Are there any more?

If you call this "in KL" that is a really sign, you have become a local!

For newbies like me Publika Mall and Batai Village are some places a daytrip far away from KL.

Neon, if you haven't already discovered it, I would have a look in the Straits Mini Market, Tg Bungah Hillside, and if you don't see OXO cubes, I would ask Andrew (owner). He gets a lot of Western stuff and can quite often source things.
