TV options in Malaysia
For whom it may concern: The famous and beloved Austrian League you can see free on laola1.tv
OK, we are far away from the Journey Performed Visa now.

Re: The very expensive Journey Performed Visa - how to avoid
Thanks. And I have broadband already, yes, 200 RM was a shock, but for this you not only get 30 Mbps but also a load of German and English League live via HyppTV. Other stuff like Champions and Europa League as well (i think), but at this time we are sleeping here. In combination with the TV Package the price is OK.

It is called HyppTV Jumbo and comes together with a Ćnifi Internet plan.
Here is the live football schedule for this weekend:
https://www.tm.com.my/hypptv/Pages/p...rts/index.html
It is a little bit strange, apart from English and German Football they have loads of completely useless US Sports that nobody in Malaysia watches, not the locals, not the Expat. But there is much more sports (but not Formula 1) included.

F1, Moto GP, Footy, Cricket, Rugby it has the lot.
Bit of careful planning and you are looking at Rm 200+ for 2 Boxes on two telly ( One is for Mrs Poolie to watch various soaps etc while the footy etc is on) both which can record up to 2 channels each . All the movies you could wish for , SKY news direct from Blighty all day (and bbc world service news if you must watch it) Discovery Channels etc etc.
Instead of Unifi you could take the lower speed broadband which would still stream iPlayer and CH4OD etc. or get both!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Worth having a look to see the various options as TM Hypp Tv is pretty limited ( but that is according to my needs and opinions)
Seemed to have gone and drifted ebe more off topic now OOOPS

I looked at Astro and found it much more expensive then the Ćnifi/Hypp Combo.
The only thing I am missing right now is F1, I have no interest in Moto GP, Cricket or even Rugby. What I as a continental European would love to have is wintersport, but that is not available on any channel but easy to stream.

Personally, I have found TIME fibre, SmartDNS and Now TV provides the cheapest and most reliable combination of internet and TV that I want to watch.

Re: TV options in Malaysia
Interesting discussion here. I will have to figure out later this month which option to choose. The condominium I will live in in Penang has a fiber optic cable installed already. I don't watch tv that often and my SO is not really interested in English language tv channels. We do want high speed internet, at least 10 Mbit/s, as we do watch video online, such as YouTube (both of us at the same time).
So I don't know yet whether I should choose Astro ( plus Internet) or TIME (plus tv).

Dunno what happened to the quote function but anyway I was going to answer the post by DY asking if you got Eurosport on your tv packages up there because Eurosport always seems to have wall to wall winter sports from mid November to end of March done here.

Re: TV options in Malaysia
IMHO Astro or HyppTV is indispensable if you are watching a lot of Football from Europe. But also more or less useless if you donĀ“t, all other things we watch with streaming. For plain and fast internet, TIME has a quite good offer compared to the others.

Re: TV options in Malaysia
I think ScubaTyke is going to live in PD Now that's as remote as Melaka and the likelihood of getting cables going to your dwelling is pretty remote just now.
Not impossible but most areas are outside Unifi/Astro cable and all those other wonderful cables you have in KL and Penang.
I cannot get Unifi yet and with my biggest badest fastest Boradband I can stream sort of OK but would not wish to have my cricket, golf, footy, rugby and wheeled sports on it each week.
SO I am stuck with Astro via a dish and TM line via a piece of string tied between two tin cans at he moment.
Scuba will only find out for sure what he can get once installed somewhere.

Re: TV options in Malaysia
Thanks for all the advice. We are indeed planning to live in PD, but had never considered it to be remote before! I suppose in Internet terms it may be, I'll do some more research during our next visit in January. I suspect my options will be similar to Melaka

Seems like roystevenung wasn't joking then when he spawned this thread. Melaka I can understand but I'm surprised a modern concept like Port Dickson didn't nail this problem earlier.

Could be PD has many areas with Unifi like some parts of Melaka but once away from the main roads here no signs yet although they swear the cables are in.
Same thing with the other providers. I check regularly to see if I can upgrade and despite all the adverts...............noooo not yet!
Don't even have a Cold Storage here!! Trek to KLIA 2 for a decent grocer believe it or not where there is quite an acceptable Jaya Grocer.
