Form the Singapore Customs website: There is no duty-free concession on liquor products if you are arriving from Malaysia, whether by air, sea, road or rail.
Royal Malaysia Customs states that you are allowed 1 litre of alcohol each. NOTE however, that if you are a non-resident, your visit to Malaysia must be for not less than 72 hours.
If you are a returning resident, your absence from Malaysia must be not less than 72 hours (for Labuan it is 24 hours and either Langkawi or Pulau Tioman it is 48 hours).
So, basically, if non-resident, you must be staying on in Malaysia for at least 3 days. If you are a returning resident, you must have been out of the country for at least 3 days.
There is a BUT...... I have seen postings on a few forums (and also on Tiger Air) that says Malaysia have introduced a tit-for-tat with Singapore and that there is no alcohol duty free allowance when coming into Malaysia from Singapore. You probably should contact Royal Malaysia Customs for a definitive and up-to-date answer!

Hi Ameretti, and
!
Strangely, according to the timetable, it seems to take around 8 hours by train from KL Sentral! There are 2 day-time trains, and one overnight.
Cheaper to buy the tickets in KL. e.g. Second Class ticket is RM34 but if you buy in Singapore, it is SGD34!!! First Class ticket from KL is RM68. First Class sleeping berth (lower) RM119 (upper) 98. Second Class sleeping berth (lower) RM46 (upper) RM40. These prices are from: http://www.travel-penang-malaysia.co...ore-train.html. I am not sure how up-to-date they are.
Edit: Apparently the upper sleeping berths are narrower than the lower, which I guess is why the lower are more expensive!
Here is a 3-D tour of Second Class sleeper: http://www.kaemena360.net/FS/Malaysi...dClassSleeper/
and the Deluxe First Class Sleeper (with it's own toilet!): http://www.kaemena360.net/FS/Malaysia/KTMSelesa/

The official website for KTM (Keretaapi Tanah Melayu Berhad) is at http://www.ktmb.com.my/
Sadly the website is poorly constructed as the booking link not easily found and is located below left.
The prices as mentioned by @Bluenose1 is correct for Kuala Lumpur to Woodlands.

Yes I've heard something like that but have never been clear what is correct. FWIW the bakedbeans flew from Singapore Changi to Penang a couple of weeks ago. Got a couple of bottles at Changi, lady looked at our boarding passes but made no comment.

They won't sell at Changi if it's not allowed.

Is there anywhere 'safe' to park in JB for a few days if wishing to drive from KL and then go public transport to/in Singapore?

I'm nervous about parking in JB for a couple of hours even in a mall car park, but I do have a Singapore car.

I think it is allowed to sell it in Changi, the doubt is whether you can bring it through Malaysia Customs duty free. Would they not still sell it anyway? I never know whether duty free shops are supposed to know the duty free restrictions in all other countries. I guess Malaysia being its nearest neighbour you would think they will be aware of what is allowed of course.

Duty-Free stores clerks always check the ticket to see the destination and sometimes this is also for security reasons.
For a while.....any flights to USA, transiting another country, did not permit onboard duty-free.....and this was translated to Duty-Free stores as policy.
Twice I was traveling Hong Kong to Vancouver but the A/C and many pax were continuing on to New York.
I was not allowed to purchase duty-free alcohol in HKG, even my ticket said YVR as destination.
It may have changed by now as this was over a year ago.
