Default Relocating to Penang

Hi friends, i am headed to Penang in a weeks time for a few months, maybe a lot longer (relocating from KL). Would appreciate advice re places to meet up with fellow expats on the Island.

Thinking of staying in Tanjung Bungah, happy to be persuaded otherwise....

I am not a Penang expert, but I think Tanjong Bungah is a very good choice.

That depends on what your priorities are. If you often want to be (or have to be) in Georgetown you may want to be closer by. Tanjung Bungah only has two roads which connect it to Georgetown. These roads are every day congested. You may regret your choice once you are wasting a lot of time in traffic jams every day.

Yes, especially if you want to focus on playing Golf or hanging around in Georgetown, Tanjong Bungah is not a good choice. Penang Turf Club is only maybe 10 km away, but the drive is so ugly.

If you want to play at Penang Golf Club donĀ“t even think about the north coast. But restaurants and daily life shopping is all in very acceptable distance.

We are thinking about relocating to Penang from April or May. I'd be happy to receive advice based on others' experiences. The Penang social thread on here seems to have petered out lately, do people still get together?
