Hi Guys,
I know its more a dormitory/shopping area, but I seem to recall Bangsar Babe reviewing a couple of PJ restaurants - hopefully they dont roll up the sidewalks at 8pm. I've just realised that I might be better off staying out there for at least a night rather than carting gear back to central KL and messing around with two hotel reservations when PJ is my destination anyway.
Any tips most welcome.
Thanks,
Gobbledonk

It looks like there's a few options. Check out nightlife venues at www.timeoutkl.com

You could take a train to Pasar Seni and walk to Petaling Street night market.
Within walking distance from Petaling Street is also Bukit Bintang for a long stretch of street foods.
If you have a smart phone you can download Waze for directions.

I guess it depends on whereabouts you end up staying in PJ. There is the Victoria Station across the road from the PJ Hilton - don't know what it's like now, but it was very nice when I was staying in the Hilton in 2006 - some meals were a bit on the pricey side, but most were not too bad - I was on expenses then , so maybe that was why! There are quite a few further up the hill (towards the Menara PKNS building) - go past there and into the square, or to use a quote from "A Few Good Men", (when you get to the square) "Follow the crow at chow time"!

roy's comment has me wondering just how many Bukit Bintang's there are in KL - is it the equivalent of 'Railway Parade' here in Oz ??

BB however has hordes of street food and not to mention getting asks by pimps "Wanna have fun? Sexy girls?". If you are feeling adventurous, by all means

U can go to Old Skool - pub with live band
Hilton PJ - Uncle Chillis has a band too
Bangsar is close to PJ too - so suggest go to Bangsar Shopping Center - some nice resaturants there too
Let me know.., happy to make some reco!

I don't actually know the name of the latest band, but they only started on Saturday, and, so one of the group told us, the management asked them to play quite numbers for the first set, as customers are eating....... however, as my wife intimated, they were sending us to sleep. Not sure if it was because it was only their second night (Sunday off!), or because there are too many of them - 4 singers! But, for most of the songs, whoever was leading would sing, but the others would mainly not be interested and worse, chatting to each other.
We stayed until about halfway through their second stint, and although it was louder, in our opinion it hadn't improved, and so we left.
Each to your own though, and I'll leave you to make your own mind up. Hopefully, they can only improve!
