Look out for Le Tour De Langkawi (Stage 2) bike race on Penang Island today - lots of Police bikes stopping the traffic.
Passed Batu Ferringhi at 12.45pm on its way to Gurney Drive and Padang Kota.

Yes, got my car trapped in Gurney Paragon. There must have been at least 4 police motorcyclist to every racer.
Great day for commtting a crime on Penang and probably most of the west peninsula.

I can overlook Jl. Tanjong Tokong from my balcony and it was indeed a big mess. The entire street was blocked off, all the way from Tesco to the crossing at Sunrise. Also helicopters in the air, I guess they were taking lots of shots from Straits Quai and its marina.

As the race progressed around the island they were closing sections of the road (in both directions) for about 1 hour, yes millions of police everywhere & riding their bikes so many, but give them credit they stopped everything I watched it over the other side towards B.P. along the kampong areas, every little drive house entrance was blocked off they let nobody on the road, no creeping along the grass verge or anything.
The local schools were all out lined up along the road, its a pretty big event.

It is a big event but unfortunately not as big worldwide as it was.
The last 5 years or so it was shown live on Eurosport but this year it's not being shown.
Highlights here, in Malay but really poorly put together.

It is a big police operation and iirc Malaysian police have been to the Tour of France a few times to see how that is policed.
The last 5 years or so it was shown live on Eurosport but this year it's not being shown.
