Default Moving from HK to KL

Afternoon. Matt from London here. I'll be moving to KL from Hong Kong in mid July and wanted to know whether anyone could recommend a decent shipping company? My wife and I have amassed a fair amount of junk that we are probably going to bring with us - TV's, sofa bed etc and wanted to some advice on who to use.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreicated.

Ta

Matt

Hi Matt,

As part of the same network we work with UniGroup Worldwide UTS in Hong Kong and would highly recommend them. Let me know if you want me to PM contact details.

Good luck with the move!

Hi Matt and welcome to the forum . For your info, the PM function on here only works once you've done 3 posts.

Hope the move goes well.

Hi Matt,

We moved to Melaka 4 weeks ago, but our possessions were shipped in November and arrived (reasonably safely - only damage noticed so far is to 2 ornaments, although not unpacked everything yet!) at our rented house mid December. We used Simpsons and they were very good. With regard to TVs, we brought 3 with us. One was a 19" Bush that won't tune properly and no sound. The other 2 are both newer and both Sony, a 46" & 52". Don't know if it's the area where we live, but we needed to use a booster on the aerial. Picture quality is by and large very good (a couple of channels where it's a bit fuzzy). We also had to mess around with the sound settings (we've only tried the 46" so far) but by changing a regional setting in the sound properties, we have also managed to get good sound as well. If you're going to use satellite, then you may not have the same problems. Not sure, but I'll bet others on here can better advise.

When we moved from HK to Singpore about 12years ago we used Four Winds,
They were excellent.
They had to get a King size bed out of our upstairs bedroom through thr windows because we had a spiral staircase which the bed could not get down,
Not a scratch on anything.

TV in Malaysia uses PAL BG VHF/UHF. TV in HK and UK uses PAL I UHF only. Old UK sets won't work. Most sets in HK are multistandard however and some modern UK sets are, check first. Digital terrestrial has been testing in the Klang Valley for a number of years using the same system as the UK but no official transmissions yet and no digital sets in the shops either. It's quite likely a more updated system will be used if and when. HK DTT uses the Chinese system which is unlikely to be used in Malaysia.
