we're in a condo 20+ floors up in north Penang and we were swaying for a good 30 seconds at least. Scarey stuff.

Differing reports being made about tsunamis. Heard that Gurney Plaza, Straits Quay and Tesco complex Tg Pinang all evacuated.

We are still here

No problems in Bali, we didn't even feel this one although it was felt in Jakarta.

Police and Bomba were screaming up and down from T Bungah to B F yelling for everyone to keep watch...at least I think thats what they yelled. The first quake Mrs was taking a nap and yelled to stop swaying the bed. I yelled back its not me i'm on the loo and thats swaying as well. A while later we were up higher in the condo at a friends place and it all started again.

Some container ships moored offshore started their motors and pointed toward Sumatra. After the second big shake, all but one up anchors and headed to sea. meanwhile a Costa cruise ship hightailed it out of Penang and turned south for Singapore.

Great post Strider hehe. Weird at our place. My PC desk was trembling, then saw my cuppa coffee moving and the whole condo started swaying. Geez... dont want too many of those.

Never felt the 2nd one. Odd that.

Hubby & I felt both tremors in our 17th floor apartment.

I was on my pc and started feeling a vibration through my feet then I saw my water moving.

We were all evacuated from our building after the 2nd tremor but no one really knew what to do. I did see a police van with it's megaphone shouting to people to evacuate from Gurney Drive.

Certainly hope that's the first and last time we ever experience an earthquake!
