Haha don't worry, you won't be kicked out for not being British . Despite the forum name, it's actually quite "international" with many nationalities on here.

Re: Counselling in KL?
I'm coming with a background in humanistic and cbt counselling in the UK, and I'm just wondering whether I'd be able to find work here.
It seems like there aren't any requirements really, or professional bodies as such.. so I'm just wondering how being a counsellor works here.
I'm just hoping that someone here can point me in the right direction

Hi Amaretti, Have you started your job yet? sorry for not being very helpful. But are you interested in taking up a private case? or do you have your own clinic already (if so, may i ask where is it located?)
My brother is in need of a good counsellor. He is a teenage boy who is really smart but is having some behaviour problems in school like sleeping etc.
It is really hard looking for a proper therapist/ psychologist here in KL, because everyone is recommending us psychiatrist!
(I am quite tired of explaining them the difference! I have done some life sciences in my degree, and I am quite sure that psychiatrist only talk to you to try to diagnose if you have mental illness. (am i right?) )
So glad that I stumbled upon your post. Hope that you can help or if possible recommend a good therapist in KL.
Thanks
