Default Bringing pets to KL

Hello

I'm wanting some advice on bringing pets to KL. I've accepted a role in KL for initially 12 months, if I'm wanting to stay longer than that then I will be looking at uprooting my family and 3 dogs. I've had mixed reports on dogs as pets in KL, some say they are seen as unclean and not very common, others say the complete opposite. So what's the deal?

Also, does anyone know how the rental market is for pets? Or anyone that I can email to find out?

Thanks in advance!

Others with more experience will be along.... but, I was looking for a place to rent and of the many places I viewed, only one wouldn't allow pets.

As to whether some people see dogs as unclean... ignore it. They're your family! I'm sure if you are a responsible dog owner (doggie bags!) nobody will bother you. We're bringing ours over, regardless.

Hi loobylea and welcome to the forum

I'm pretty sure we had a thread on this subject not so long ago. You may want to do a search in the search box (top right) for pets or dogs or something similar.

If you're renting in a house, I wouldn't have thought it would be a problem, but await those in KL to respond.

That seems promising, it really will make the decision on my stay a lot easier if I know that my partner and pets will be there too!

I went back about 10 pages in the results and did see 2 posts about pets but there wasn't much on accommodation.

Also, I've been trying to get a few quotes for the cost of getting the 3 dogs over, all I can say is ouch at £5000! Can anyone recommend any reasonably priced companies they they've used?

Depending on their weight / size you might be able to bring them as excess baggage.... I think KLM will allow up to 75Kg (including crate). Worth looking into as you could save a bundle.

Hello!
Well I think views on dogs depend on the area. It's true that moslems view dogs as unclean and the fanatic ones don't want to get near dogs. But generally it's not a problem for non-moslem community (except if your dog is super noisy and you have nosy neighbors, I guess ).

<<snip>>

Hope this helps, and good luck with your relocation!

Jason
