The Beer Thread
By special request :)
I'm not much of a beer drinker myself but mr bakedbean will slurp a Skol or Asahi. There was also some Myanmar beer available in Penang at quite a decent price. What's available and where in Penang? In KL? Any pukka British beers around? |

Re: The Beer Thread
I've seen Boddingtons cans around but when I've tried them they tasted well old and some cans were out of buy by or use by dates.
Insipid to say the least. |
Re: The Beer Thread
Oh dear.... British Beer sightings seem a bit thin on the ground... I was in one bar that sold Kilkenny draft, and it obviously didn't travel well. That's all I've seen. I was hoping Tescos would send a container or two over every now and then!
So far I've been alternating between Tiger and Anchor, which are fine when you're outside in the warm weather, but that novelty will wear off pretty quickly!! |

Brussels Beer Café at Gurney Paragon Weissbrau German Bistro & Bar at Straits Quay Ingolf‘s Kneipe German Restaurant, near the Copthorne Orchid Hotel in Tanjung Bungah All the above have several different beers on tap. Cheers! JC3 PS. Where's the best Guinness on tap in Penang? |
Re: The Beer Thread
Yes I have informed Mr bb about the Brussels Beer Cafe in the Paragon. And is that correct....Tetleys on draught? :flypig::flypig::flypig:
Does anyone actually drink at Weissbrau? I've walked past many times and never seen anyone in there. |
Re: The Beer Thread
Are there no British micro brewers in Malaysia, There is a guy in Chile doing quite well serving the ex pats
Or is the cost of setting up such a business difficult? |

Farquhar's bar at the E&O hotel used to have Tetleys on draught - and may do still. Pretty soon you'll be able to take the boat from the E&O to Straits Quay. That's one way to start a pub crawl. JC3 |

Depends whether you class Guiness as British! ;-) You can get Guiness in Tesco in Melaka - have also seen (although not British) Carlsberg, also in Tesco.

Re: The Beer Thread
Just been into Tesco for first time in ages. Carlsberg RM54 for 12 (with a free glass) and Tiger RM108 for 24. Best prices I think I've ever seen. Needless to say I used the Christmas excuse to stock up!
