Default Area of KL for a visit

Hello

I am planning a trip to KL for a few days, but it's been many years since I was last there, so could anyone recommend particular areas to stay in, or to avoid?

My husband has never been and we want to be able to walk around, take in a few sights, markets and eat some great food.

Terima kasih

The Shangri La is nice, as is the Marriott.

Jalan Alor for your street food, delightful and delightfully cheap. Go right down to the far end for the chicken wings at the 'Mickey Mouse' place (you'll know it when you see it) and anywhere else for equally top notch grub.

Changkat Bukit Bintang for a great night out, Healy Mac's being the ideal venue.

Bangsar on a Sunday afternoon for a Thai or banana leaf lunch followed by a game of Scrabble and a water melon shake in a nice relaxed, village vibe, breezy location.

Great place

The Sky Bridge of the Petronas Twin Towers is well worth a visit! When I did it in 2006 it was free, and only open on Tuesdays. Now it is open Tuesday to Sunday 9:00 am to 9:00 pm (closed on Mondays and between 1:00pm & 2:30 pm on Fridays for Friday prayers). Unfortunately, it now costs 80RM for Non-MyKad holders (adults) and 30RM for Non-MyKid holders. However, whereas you used to have to queue up very early in the morning (they restrict the number of visitors per day) now you can actually book up to a year in advance. You can buy online here: https://eticket.petronastwintowers.com.my/, but you could also go to the ticket office in KLCC any time during the day (I would suggest after, say, 9:30 am to avoid the crowds) to buy tickets in advance. I think the maximum you are allowed is 5 per person queuing. You can still buy same day tickets, but it would be advisable to be there very early (some still start queuing around 6:00 am).

Alternatively, (or as well as, I guess!) there is the KL Tower. Not as busy but I've heard just as good. I believe you have to pay for that as well. There was also a (I think revolving) restaurant on the top floor - a bit like the Telecom (used to be called the P.O.) tower in London. I've never been, so I don't know if the restaurant is still there/open.

Thanks.

I'm not too bothered by going up a tall building as I live in Dubai and can see the Burj al Arab from my villa.

I was just after an indication of the area of the city which is best for a short visit.
