Which one are you using? I use Nord which blocked me from Netflix and iPlayer last week using SmartDNS directly on the TV but when I use it on the app through a Firestick it works. My subscription ends tomorrow so I'm going to try a few others to figure out the best way to do it.

Just go for the FireStick Lite. We have a 4K Max and the Lite and I can't see any difference apart from the remote being more friendly on the 4K. Really handy for travel too as you can actually watch something decent in hotels.

I would have a look at the 4k Max reviews ("1" ratings). Content for 4k is lacking, but it should be faster as the cpu and memory are better. It seems odd to me that the BBC make it so hard to watch even if you have a licence.... It can't be beyond them to give you a key to watch, even it you have to pay to get a specific key for watching abroad/travelling. But no doubt there are complicated contractual reasons stopping them.
