I always smile when I see MEN AT WORK in the overhead autostrada signs which translate LAVORI IN STRADA.

Someone is more familiar with dodgy 80s bands than the straightforward ROADWORKS AHEAD!

..plus 'men at work' is sexist .. not that anyone will notice.

I frown when I see that as there are usually no men doing any work.

I always joke with my Italian mates that the Road system in much of Europe was started by Italians more than 2000 years ago so it is now it is probably time for them to think about doing some serious maintenance.......

..or even from Mussolini's time, which isn't far from the truth. They never quite got past the concept of 'dual carriageway'.

Or there is one man standing in the middle of the road waving a silly flag attempting to slow cars down.

They have been working on the Turin-Milan every since we moved away in 1988! Except for a few months one year when it was reopened in pomp magna only for it to be hit by severe flooding and in need of re-doing.

What's wrong with Sacher? I might have written the complete name, Sachertorte, but how would you write it?
And, BTW, how do you translate "gelato affogato al caffe"? Of course drowned coffee is wrong, but I don't know what is the English corresponding phrase. Thanks!
