I dont understand the wide eyed shock horror probe stuff. Its obvious. Firstly because Berlo invited the Americans to come and do what they want in Italy - MUOS,Spy satellites, drones etc and secondly because a G8 leader who cosies up to Ghadaffi and Putin is going to raise some eyebrows.

Agree modicasa. For of course the US spies on everyone. And i assume britain on whoever it can. And most countries spy. The idea that it would end with the end of the cold war struck even naive me as clear tosh. You never seem to hear much about the italian secret services. Which either means that they have long lunches, keep nipping out of the office for an espresso with colleagues, or, alternatively, are the world's best.

"Department of Information Security (DIS) chief Giampiero Massolo reportedly told the Parliamentary Committee for Intelligence and Security Services (COPASIR) that Giulio Regeni was not a secret service agent or informer and that the case is not likely to be solved any time soon."
The last bit seems to apply to a lot of important crimes that happen here.
