LOL,the only thing that pissed me off was the reams of blank Italian and French certificates I had to print off and then dump.

Glad the journey was trouble free. This is interesting for people returning:
From 10 December 2020, testing will be required for persons entering Italy who have been in ANY EU country (or the UK) in the past 14 days.

There's a great new questionnaire to answer the questions regarding travel here:
COVID-19 QUESTIONARIO (viaggiaresicuri.it)

A few points from the latest decree (3 December)
Extended curfew has been introduced for New Year's Eve only: from 22:00 on 31 December to 7:00 on 1 January.
From 21 December 2020 to 6 January 2021, travel between individual regions and autonomous provinces is prohibited, except to return to one's primary legal residence. For this entire period, travel to second homes in other regions or provinces is prohibited.
On 25 and 26 December 2020 and 1 January 2021, leaving one's municipality is totally prohibited, except for work, health, or other urgent reasons. On these days, it is not only prohibited to travel to second homes in other regions or provinces, as aforementioned, but ALSO in other municipalities.
