Default NEW DRIVING LAWS 2023

Has anybody else been reading up on the driving laws? I only found out because my son said ..... that's me *****ed for another two years. I am not a neopatente for one year now but three years. And then I read the rest of Salvini's stuff.

Is 70kW equivalent to 1.3 cc?

Don't worry the EU wants a digital all encompassing Drivers Licence.

https://ec.europa.eu/commission/pres.../en/ip_23_1145
If this proposal gets anywhere is another thing. They can't get the digital European Travel Information and Authorization System (ETIAS) to work. Maybe this is pie in the sky too.

Salvini is minister of infrastructure. Whats he doing with licences? Stopping Italians using phones in the car will be a tough one.

I was pleased to read another part of the proposed law, that electric scooters would have to have a licence plate and their riders would need a crash helmet and insurance. I expect this won't happen, but it's a nice thought. Do the politicians introduce these proposals knowing that they'll not make it through to law but as some kind of bargaining chip that they are prepared to sacrifice so that at least something else succeeds in being enacted?
I agree with Philat98, a concerted campaign to reduce the use of mobile phones while driving would be worthwhile.

Using a phoned while driving was already illegal. Anyone ever seen someone stopped by police for that reason?

NO never. Loads do it. Cigarette in one hand, phone in the other so it's up to you what you think they may be steering with!

95 horses pulling a cart and speeding down the A1 all the way to Rome. In the spirit of Top Gear.

Just imagine Jeremy Clarkson racing down a motorway in Italy. Haha!

When we first met my now wife could somehow talk on the phone, put on makeup, smoke and drive at the same time.
