Moving to Como with kids
Hi, anybody living near Como with children? I have a three year old and a five months old, both girls. I am looking for some friends and some activities for the older one as well.

Hi Sedmi, welcome to the forum and merry Christmas! Not up there myself but we do have members in the area! You will probably get a better response after Christmas now so be patient. Hope to see you in other parts of the forum. Shout if you need anything.

Re: Moving to Como with kids
Hi Sedmi,
I'm moving to Como in February with my husband and 18 month old son. I'd be really interested in meeting up. I was also hoping to find some toddler groups to go to, and if there weren't any, maybe we could set one up!
I'm Scottish, but we currently live near London. Where are you moving from?
When will you move to Como?
Hope to meet up soon.

Re: Moving to Como with kids
Hello Snow Drop,
we are moving from Prague. We are in fact both Czech, but we speak English well. I work as a translator from home and my husband just got a job in Milano in a computer game company. I would be very happy to have somebody to talk to in English as I did not have much opportunity to talk at home. I found out that there were some play groups in Como and surrounding cities, but the information is around three years old, so it could be different now.

Hi Sedmi,
Are you already in Como or are you moving soon. It'll be great to meet up. Do you speak Italian?
We are meant to be there by Feb 2nd, so maybe we can arrange something for after that.
where did you find out about the playgroups? I could look into if they are still active.
I'll send you a PM soon with my email and things and we can make some arrangements nearer February. I can't send PMs until I have made 3 posts.
Xx

Re: Moving to Como with kids
Hi Snow Drop,
we are moving there very soon, my husband is leaving this Sunday and he will have to find an apartment for us by January 19th, as I am flying there with the girls then. We do not speak any Italian, but I would like to learn. I found information about the playgroups here on this forum, that is how I found the forum, when I was looking for a kindergarden for my daughter there. But the thread is three years old and closed now.
Please send me your contact, so we can meet once we arrive and settle down a bit. Hope to see you soon

Hi there, I am a South African living in Italy for the last 6 years with my Italian husband and nearly 13 year old daughter. We are actually thinking of moving to Como (very soon) so I'd be glad to give you a hand with this and that until your Italian is good enough. You may feel free to email me : SNIP
All the best your move - good choice! Como is Idyllic!

Are you already in Como? I will be moving to Como too hopefully by July 2011! I have been living in Italy though for the past 7 years, and my daughter is a 13 but if you are interested we can keep in touch and meet up when we get over there. I'm from South Africa, (married to an Italian).
Sincerely,

Hi,
That's fantastic news that there are more Mums in Como. I still haven't moved yet- my husband is already there and my 20 month son and I move next week!
Maybe we can arrange to meet up soon.

Hi everybody. In the end we found an apartment in Cantu instead Como. It is however only around 35 kilometres away so it is not a problem to take a car and go to Como. If anybody interested, we can meet up for the coffee

Re: Moving to Como with kids
Hi, I have only just signed up to this site, but have been living in como well cadorago ( tiny place) since november. My husband is Italian and has a company over here, we used to live in Brighton Uk where he would spend long weekends with us and work days in Italy. We have 2 children a 3 year old and a 22 month old so, after a long chat decided it was best for the family to all come to como.
My Italian is passable, i understand much better than i speak it. But am struggling to make friends so you cqan imagine i am feeling a little lonely and homesick!.
So would love to know if any of you have met up? and if so can i???
thanks frankie
