Living in Italy six month and UK six months
Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows about taxes if you live between Italy and the UK. We have lived in Rome for over 25 years, we have a son living in the North and a daughter in England so we are thinking of buying a small place in both places but we are not sure what the cost of running two places would be, is there a discount in either country on council taxes

The short answer is no. ON a second home in Italy there is no discount, unless of course it is put in your son's name and it is his 1st house. On the house in the UK there is no discount and you would have to declare it in ITaly as overseas patrimony and pay tax in italy as well as in UK - technically.

Ok thankyou all for the quick reply. No way to buy a holiday home in both places as that would probably be the same law - both my son and daughter have their own property so no way could I put property in their names.
