Volunteer opportunities in Bergamo
I will be moving to Italy/Bergamo this September for an indefinite time and I was wondering if you could give me tips in finding volunteer opportunities in the city of Bergamo.
I work from home and I thought volunteering would be a good way of meeting new people and practicing my rather passive Italian language skills.
Visa/work and apartment are sorted out...
Thanks for you input!

Why don't you place an 'annuncio' in one of the online sites for language exchange or offering services, if you your goal is to meet people?
www.subito.it
www.tuttoannunci.org
www.vivastreet.it
www.boxannunci.com

Re: Volunteer opportunities in Bergamo
I tried and did meet people through online ads when I moved to the States years ago...and now I try to stay away from meeting new people that way. May be I'll have a better experience in Italy.
I wasn't familiar with 3 of the sites you recommended. Thanks Duffer!

Hello.
specific to Bergamo.
http://www.cesvi.org/ is an international org but with base in Bergamo, should be quite ok for english speaking because they cover a lot of foreign countries.
Otherwise you can help through:
- Red cross, Croce rossa
- Protezione Civile, which is now helping in the Emilia Earthquake
- Catholic associations: Conventino, Caristas, which are open to non religious people too
or choose among hundreds of associations in the Province of Bergamo listed in the link below:
