I used to get bothered about being stared at cos I didn't dress in the local "uniform"..........but now I just don't give a sh**
Every summer / winter the latest trend comes out and everyone dresses in it regardless of age/weight etc and some of them look awful. You're right Lorna - fashion sheep

I'm always tempted to dress wildy bohemian or mad punk one day and go for a wander around the market in another town - just to give them all something different to stare at. I'd like to do it with a swagger and high head and a really strong 'I don't give a monkeys' face. lol

I thought it was the south that was more neglected. It's true what Sands say, people only care about their own homes here. I think that's really sad because when outside your home is clean and tidy too, it makes it such a better place to live, to enjoy walks etc.

yeah - and their homes have been blitzed from top to bottom with every conceivable detergent and spray on the market - and they tell you to ignore the mess ! What mess or untidyness ????
When I tell people to "non guardare il casino" it's usually because they can't even see the floor for all the stuff on it - let alone their reflections in it !

I quite like the staring now and find England really odd the way no one looks at anyone else.

We drive a left hand drive with UK plates. We cause confusion when we go back to the UK, especially when the passenger unclips their seatbelt and climbs into the back of the car.

I love Prosecco too!
I hate risking my life every time I cross the road.
I love the long "lunch hour".
I love buildings the colour of gelato, ie, strawberry, peach, pistachio, rum 'n' raisin in Verona.
I hate the way the Italians dump their pets to "forage" when they go on holiday and how they just pick up and adopt any cute cat they see. It might be mine!!!
I love(d) the free limoncello in our Cinese until it closed <sob>.
I love church bells and the little shrines to Our Lady everywhere.

I hate the way middle-aged widows are expected to find fulfilment for the rest of their lives cooking for their sons - my friend still moans about how his mum abandoned him for a boyfriend when he was only 34.
I love how my ex-landlady's daughter used to give me free manicures because it hurt her Italian soul to have anyone going around with nails like mine.
I love getting good wine soooo cheap at cantinas, esp compared with the cat wee you can pay 10x as much for in Tesco.
I hate that songbirds are considered edible delicacies.
I love the way 'bella figura' rules. Where I currently live it's cool to vomit at bus stops and on my last shift in A&E we had the police come into arrest some girl for biting another girl's n***** (not sure what the filter will let me type). I just love, love, love that I've never seen anyone here staggering about drunk and obnoxious.
I hate that it can take eternity and then some to get internet installed.

And I hate that I can never remember when San Remo happens and end up invited to someone's home to watch it !

San Remo makes the Eurovision song contest look good and at least that dos'nt go on for ever.

But today there are three fields near me full of poppies and I just bought some cherries so Im in a good mood now

The cherries haven't made it our way just yet, I can't wait.

It's taken some getting used to but only eating seasonal fruit and veg makes new seasons a bit more exciting :-)
