Default How long does post take to clear customs?

I'm waiting for some parcels I sent to myself from Japan. I checked track and trace and they've cleared customs and are at the "international office of exchange". Anybody have any idea how long it will be before they actually get to my house? I really desperately need some of the stuff and am starting to panic!

Hi,

You're not going to like it if I say "how long is a piece of string?" are you?

Which customs?
Where is this international office of exchange?

Where we live the parcels are delivered by the postman - on their motorbikes. Sometimes it seems to take a long time before they arrive. This might not have anything to do with customs.

Usually takes about 3 weeks for me to receive parcels from outside the EU. Note parcels not small padded envelopes, etc. I did have to pay customs duty once as well on something bought in the US.

Some are in Malpensa and some are in Rome, not sure why they got sent different places. It says they've git through customs so I just wonder why they aren't here yet.
Customs can take stuff out of a parcel can't they? I was a bit creative with the description on the label-said a sculpture is an ornament. I really need it for an exhibition!

Thanks for that Lorna. I checked track and trace again this morning and now it says they're in storage. I don't understand why they don't just deliver them! And it doesn't say where they're being stored.
Will I ever see my stuff again?
