Does anyone have any experience with Intasure with regards to house and contents insurance?

Re: House Insurance
I recently bought a house in Rome using a mortgage. The mortgage company covers some aspects of house insurance to cover their investment and i have been looking into other household policies to make up the difference. It seems that it is not possible to get insurance to cover flood damage caused by "non direct" effects. i.e. there is cover for water damage due to burst pipes etc and also cover for damage by direct rainfall (i.e. rain blowing in though a window) but it seems that flooding due to rivers overflowing or road water run off is not given even if this is caused by excessive rainfall. Has any one found a company that covers this type of risk?

I have bought the policy from Intasure which covers non direct rain damage and also earthquake damage neither of which i could get with Italian insurance companies.

Re: House Insurance
Well I eventually got buildings and contents cover with Intasure and have had no problems (I made no claims) however I just received the first renewal quotation (for my second year) and the premium had gone up 77% the breakdown was a 129% rise for the buildings cover and a 30% rise for the contents.
I called them and (guess what?) there had been a “mistake” they forgot to include the NCB and they also took off a "discount", which wasn't on the first quote. This brings the annual increase down to 37%. Still high but better. Anyone else suffer from this "mistake" in quoting a renewal by Intasure?

Re: House Insurance
After reading your post last time I contacted them and got a quote. The quote was higher than the one we got from an Italian company, so we did not change insurers, just upped the cover.
Intasure were definitelly not competitive in our case.

Isakat, who do you use in Italy. I haven't yet renewed with Intasure and am searching for a better deal. However i want Earthquake and INDIRECT flood cover, which seems difficult, if not impossible to get, in Italy.

Will pm you the details, you can give them a call. Last time I spoke to them they were discussing introducing a cover for 'indirect flood damage and earthquake', but I do not know if it is introduced yet.
I heard that after L'Aquila the insurance companies are reluctant to offer earthquake cover. I live on a hill so for me flood cover is not important.
Also, all insurance companies can insure buildings cover up to 1,000 euro per square meter, irrespective of whether it is an apartment in Prati or a house somewhere in the countryside. So, in our case we could not insure for more than 300,000 euro.

Re: House Insurance
I've got a quote which seems very reasonable but the excess is 250 Euro per claim.

Re: House Insurance
yes i renewed with Intasure, with a 30% premium increase, still better than local insurance cover, lets see what happens at the next renewal.
