HELP!!! Residency nightmare

HELP!!! Residency nightmare
I have just been to my local Municipality, simply to check what papers I need for Residency.
We were told that as I am not a pensioner, and not working here , that I CANNOT be a resident.
I sold my house in London and moved here to live with my Italian fella, (who is working) Half the money from my House Sale is going to be my share of a house we are going to buy here together. The rest of the money will be my nest-egg to live off.
But this lady insisted that I cannot be a resident unless I get a job.
Please somebody tell me this isnt true. I was under the impression that so long as I can show proof that I can financially support myself, and have medical insurance, then that would be all that is needed?
Help somebody . Thanks

Re: HELP!!! Residency nightmare
Unless things have changed again recently, it is all you need. Plus Private Health Insurance - maybe the bit she forgot to mention to you. Without this they won't give you your residency no matter how much money you have.
Lorna will provide you with the links for chapter and verse to print off and take back to them.

Re: HELP!!! Residency nightmare
I changed my residency fairly recently as we moved house. I also took a letter from my OH stating that financially he is responsible for me. I don't work here and I have residency.

Re: HELP!!! Residency nightmare
yes I have residency here but I am also not married. My partner had to sign some sort of declaration to say that he was financially responsible for me AND the two kids that we have together and he had to have a letter from his employer showing how much he earned as he is on secondment here.

There is info and links on the British Embassy website page for Living in Italy. If you look there you will find info on the links in both English and Italian. It SHOULD be up to date!!!

b) dispone per se' stesso e per i propri familiari di risorse economiche sufficienti, per non diventare un onere a carico dell'assistenza sociale dello Stato durante il periodo di soggiorno, e di un'assicurazione sanitaria o di altro titolo idoneo comunque denominato che copra tutti i rischi nel territorio nazionale;
