Driving to England in May
Hi everyone,
We are visiting England for the month of May, driving there in our Italian car. We have just sent off the forms to have our drivers licences changed over, so we will have Italian and UK licences - although the address on the UK one is out of date. We have insured our car fully comp (or the Italian equivalent) and have European wide breakdown cover.
Is there anything else that we should do?

The Italian authorities should retain your UK licences. Even if they don’t it’s important to use your Italian licences when driving in the UK as driving on a UK licence with an incorrect address attracts a £1000 fine.
If there’s a ‘no deal’ Brexit at the end of March then you should ensure that your Italian insurance will cover you in the UK. You may need a Green Card.

Re: Driving to England in May
Does anyone have any experience of driving an Italian registered car on holiday in the UK, using Italian insurance? We have our insurance in my name, but my wife drives the car here since it is the vehicle that is Insured.
My worry is that - because she is not named in the policy - she won't be able to drive it in the UK. Our insurance agent is unable to help, beyond advising we take the green card with us..
