Out of interest what is an 'off plan' property? Is it when you buy before it's been built based on the plans alone? I think that's a standard way that many Italians by property isn't it?

Don`t rely on their solicitors, get the info from the council offices. ;-)

No, not really. I used to travel alot in Italy and I saw plenty of these off plan apartment blocks going up and met plenty of normal people who were living in them. I personally didn't get the impression that there was anything wierd about it or dodgy just that it was a way of buying cheaper. I think the catch of course was that you can't really guarantee when the property will be completed.

I bought off plan in Calabria last June. I was not able to get a reduction in the purchase price and nor was I able to get any flexibility in the stage payments. Seems that demand is so high that developments sell out really quickly to people who are prepared to pay the advertised price. I think this is because the prices are actually quite low and people feel that they will make a profit when the property is finished in 24 months time.
I do have access to free inspection trips to Calabria if you are interested. The one I went on was a good experience with no pressure selling or any sort of obligation to buy.

Are you the same Tim who sells property on the Ionian Coast? I guess there could be lots of Tim's around though.

looking at property through sites primelocation and theGPG.com-seems many of the properties are on many sites -these act as agents for the developers -simiar to MEdsea.

Hi all
I bought off plan from a developer called Sandloka. Their website is sandloka.com
Prices have risen about e40k since i reserved in April.
I had a good 4 days in Calabria researching the different areas and developers.
