I am so getting into this cooking lark! Never thought I would enjoy it so much but, whilst we adore the local food, we like to eat different things.
Our curries are coming along in leaps and bounds. I can knock up a restaurant quality meal any time.
Chinese crispy duck, complete with home made chinese pancakes and delicious dipping sauce.
My chilli is very good following a traditional recipe on bbc good food.
just started with greek! Made tzatziki the other say - very nice - and pitta breads. A couple if days ago we did chicken souvlaki which was excellent, following a recipe from Akis kitchen
We make our own burgers, and burger sauce, everyone says they are nice.
I want to make taramasalata but am struggling to find the correct sort of roe. It needs to be from white fish, like cod or pollock but all I see here are the larger, salmon or sturgeon types. Any advice?

Where do you get your duck from? A whole one or just duck breast? It's not readily available where I live but the butcher did say I could order it but it's expensive.

No Esselunga this far up North, but I'll keep my eyes open in Lidl.
By the way, it's British week at Lidl starting Thursday 13th if anybody is interested.

Wish I could help but I wouldn't know where to start. The sausages where I live are ok on a BBQ but pretty rubbish in things like toad in the hole or bangers and mash.

We bring ours over in a cool box.We buy local chicken or turkey sausage to make stuffing. There's one in Conad I think it's called di campo, not bad but normal Italian sausages are crap,JMO,lol.

Just a matter of taste really. My old man liked it and I unwittingly was brought up on it.Just that I try to avoid pure fat.We brought over a load of Atora veggy suet for dumplings but even that is fatty. We use olive oil now instead.Steak and kidney pud tomorrow, lovely jubbly.First time that we've seen kidney on the shelf here,we normally have to beg the butcher to get some.Cheers,Brian.
