Building Waste
Hi
We will be moving to a small village near mantua in northern Italy, can anyone give me any information on how we get rid of general household waste which is stuff left in the house and general building waste (old plaster, rubble ect).
I have search and can not been to find any type of skip hire like we had in the UK.
Thank you

You're right. There's no skip hire sector like in the UK. Maybe you might be able to find one or two companies that do something like that, but in general it doesn't exist.
Assuming that you can't just take the rubbish to your local tip (because you don't have a suitable vehicle or don't have the time) then you'll have to find someone who will take it there for you. Try talking to neighbours and you'll probably find there's a builder or odd job man that will do it for you...or alternatively try befriending the local edilizia and they will know someone who has a little truck or ape ... but of course you'll have to pay and also it'll probably take them ages to do it. Obviously you need a specialist if you have any waste that's dangerous (like asbestos). Again you can ask neighbours, the edilizia, local builders who they can recommend for any specialist work.

I believe the one in Mantua province is run by TEA group (https://www.mantovaambiente.it/). Hope it helps.

There are four or five skip renters around Mantua - google noleggio cassoni mantua. However, if the skip is going on public property you will need to apply for occupazione del suolo pubblico at the comune and pay the fee. The skip provider will need to know what is going into the skip as he will have to pay to dispose of it according to type - tiles, bricks etc. Down here it costs about 150 euros for 2 days for a small skip, plus whatever the comune charges.

Thank you, at the start it will be old house items and old furniture left behind by previous owner. The we will undertake some renovation interventions which will mean we need to dispose of any material generated as part of each intervention.

The comune generally take bulky items, but in many cases you are limited to 3 items at a time, so it can take ages to empty a house. You could try a house clearance company who take everything, sell what is worth something and chuck the rest. You can usually find them on vendo/compro facebook pages for your area or classed as svuota cantina or similar.

Re: Building Waste
Years ago when I bought my house in Italy it still had a lot of the useful stuff that Italians tend to hang onto such as half an out board engine,a broken cupboard etc in the outbuildings. The geometra advised me to make a pile of it outside the garden gate and what ever was left could go to the dump.Sure enough apes appeared from far and wide and the pile reduced considerably then Zio Gabriele took the rest to the dump (I assume) in his Ape...for a few euros of course
