Default BBC3 has disappeared??

Does anyone know why my BBC3 has disappeared. I watch the UK tv channels with a UK Freeview box and dish pointing to Astra.

BBC3 is a channel that is CBBC during the day and then changes over at 8pm to BBC3. BBC4 and CBeebies are the same but we still have both of them.

Anyway, I can still get CBBC up until 8pm, but then instead of BBC3 coming on, I just get a message saying No Audio/Video.

I have tried scanning for new channels/retuning with no success. My daughter is getting withdrawal symptoms from lack of Doctor Who, but at least she is sleeping better and not having nightmares!

same here Twinkle - my BBC3 has disappeared on freeview satellite. Will have to wait for OH to come home and sort it out cos I am hopeless at anything remotely technological I used to get BBC4 but lost that ages ago - shame cos it was interesting.

Am watching Sue Perkins and Liza Tarbuck driving on a very dangerous road - its entertaining. (bbc2)
I think my English TV is the thing that keeps me sane (and this forum of course )

Have you tried tuning and/or searching for BBC3 after 8pm Italy time? When it should be broadcasting?

It is broadcasting from Astra 1N on these frequencies: 10773H 22000 5/6

BTW All the channels have moved from Astra 2D to Astra 1N until the new Astra 2F satellite is launched in September, when they'll move again.

I certainly have no problems with BBC3 and CBeebies - both being watched!

Thanks Duffer.... been waiting for you!! Will try that tonight, and hopefully Patty can too.

PS - eventually got the Italian tv with a very cheap indoor aerial a few months ago..... and I don't think I've ever watched it at all!!

Yes too right. The only Italian TV I watch is 'round at the in-laws. I watch only UK TV at home. Some might argue that it's wrong to do this but I just can't stomach Italian TV. I am dreading the moment the new satellites are launched later this year. Rumours are they will focus the beam on the UK and move the centre from SE England to NW England, meaning we might lose it in the north of Italy. Meaning I might as well chuck the TV out and learn to read instead.

Oh please just for this once be wrong Duffer - I'll go absolutely stark raving nuts if I cant watch English tv. I completely agree with you Duffer - italian tv is so very dire that I cant even stomach it for 5 minutes. When the in-laws come round I have to leave the room as they watch it incessantly - ggrrrh !

Modicasa - thanks for your suggestions but arent all these paying ones ? - with the freeview we dont have any extra costs and unfortunately on my paltry teaching wage freeview suits me just fine.

UKNova is free to join up and it is only British TV. You will need a torrent programme as well to download the programmes from them.
There are loads of free torrent programmes on the internet.

Basically, you open up your UKNova and go through the tv programmes that are listed daily, click on which one you want to download and it will open up your torrent programme and start downloading into there. Better if you have broadband internet.
Once you have the programme in your computer, you can watch it whenever you like and keep it for as long as you like. Not every single thing that is on the Tv though ends up on this site but most of the daily/weekly programmes do and the specials and the documentaries. It has radio programmes too.

UKNova goes back pages so you can download something that was on TV weeks ago.

Same is true of TheBox which has nearly every program broadcast in the UK - much better than UKNova. And is legal which a UK free view box isn't.

Why is a freeview box not legal? I bought mine in good faith and the man who set it up didn't say anything??

Ah, well, we will have to use the laptop and stream down the internet again if we lose the channels. No way I am watching Italian TV.

I don't think it's illegal to watch the BBC outside of the UK. There is nothing stopping you from watching it. It is down to the BBC to encrypt their signal and make it accessable only to those with a UK address, much like Sky do.

Aren't all the streaming sites illegal if they are making copyrighted and/or subscription based TV programmes available for free? In any case, these should be for UK residents in possession of a TV licence, surely?

As i understand it, watching the BBC outside the UK where they don't have broadcasting rights is not legal, and not covered by your license fee. Its all down to territory. Its why you can't use iplayer without paying a subscription outside the UK and why buying a UK SKy card and using it in Italy is not allowed.
